VILLANOVA, Pa. - Senior Emerson Lawrence, whose two goals helped spark Villanova's 5-3 comeback victory over Penn on Friday night at Rhodes Field, is this week's Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Week.
Lawrence scored his first goal on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute against the Quakers and then broke a 3-3 deadlock in the 76th minute when he finished off a pass from classmate Ryan Whalen for his fourth goal of the campaign. The native of Newark, N.J., leads the `Cats with four goals this season and eight points.
This marks the second consecutive week that a Wildcat has been tabbed Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Week. Sophomore Oscar Umar earned the honor on Sept. 10.
Villanova (5-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 BIG EAST) hosts Soccer Six rival La Salle (5-1-1 overall) on Thursday at the West Campus Soccer Complex at 4:00 p.m. (Nova Nation All-Access).
