VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova sophomore goalie Chris Bresnahan (McLean, VA./Gonzaga High School) has been named Philadelphia Soccer Six Player of the Week for his efforts in the Wildcats' first three games of the 2009 season.

Bresnahan anchored a defense that allowed only two goals in 290 minutes against No. 18 Loyola, at Temple and at home on Monday against Penn. Bresnahan posted a 1-0 shutout victory over the Greyhounds on Sept. 1 in Baltimore and then made five saves in posting another whitewash in Monday afternoon's 0-0 tie with Penn in the `Cats home opener at the Soccer Complex.

In 22 appearances since becoming a Wildcat at the start of the 2008 season, Bresnahan has played every minute in net and delivered nine shutouts. He sports an 0.62 goals against average this season.

Villanova (1-1-1) returns to action this Friday when it meets Binghamton in Easton, Pa., at 5:30 p.m.
