Providence, R.I. --- In the 1999 Big East Men's Soccer Coaches' Preseason Poll announced on Thursday, August 12, Villanova University junior co-captain Jim Curtin (Oreland, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) was tabbed as an All-Big East first team performer. Last season, Curtin earned second team All-Big East honors on defense for the Wildcats after starting all 17 games for the 'Cats and tallying an assist. Prior to his All-Big East selection, Curtin was cited as the 1997 Big East Conference Rookie of the Year.

In the team voting, which is comprised of the votes of the league's 12 head coaches, Villanova was picked to finish twelfth, the same spot they occupied at the end of last season. St. John's University was chosen as this year's favorite to win the league, while the University of Connecticut was the only other team to receive any first place votes.
