Brendan Sullivan, a native of Philadelphia and veteran of five years of professional soccer playing experience, has joined the Villanova Wildcats coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Brendan Sullivan, 25, joins his father, head coach Larry Sullivan, and, brother, assistant coach Bryan Sullivan to comprise the 2000 Villanova coaching staff. Larry Sullivan is set to begin his tenth season as Wildcats head coach this fall.

Brendan Sullivan began his playing career at St. Joseph's Prep, where he was twice selected Catholic League Most Valuable Player. He then went on to become a three-time All-Ivy League selection at the University of Pennsylvania from 1993-95. Five years of professional experience came next. Brendan Sullivan started his career with the Philadelphia Freedom and also spent time with the Carolina Dynamo, Connecticut Wolves, Boston Bulldogs, and Long Island Roughriders.

"Brendan brings five years of professional playing experience to our program," said Larry Sullivan. "He has great knowledge of the technical aspects of the game. His presence should help our midfielders develop a better sense of the game. The other thing he brings us is a spicy attitude. He doesn't surrender easily."

Villanova opens the 2000 season on Fri., Sept. 1 at St. Joseph's in a Philadelphia Soccer Seven matchup.
