Manta Joins the Wildcats as a Transfer

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats have added Michael Manta, a transfer from Lehigh University, to the 2013 roster, it was announced today. Manta, who can play back or in the midfield, appeared in 14 games as a freshman for the Mountain Hawks in 2013 and was a part of the starting lineup on 13 occasions.
"Mike is a big, strong athletic defender who comes to Villanova with Division I game experience," stated Villanova men's soccer coach Tom Carlin. "His mother and grandfather are Villanova alumni so he we are excited to welcome him to the Villanova family."
Manta, who retains three seasons of eligibility, is a native of Downingtown, Pa., who graduated from Malvern Prep. As a senior he was named first team All-Main Line and second team All-Southeast Pennsylvania. He played club soccer for three-time Region I champion Penn Celtic 93, a club that was ranked No. 1 in the country during its U17 year.
Manta and the rest of the 2013 Wildcats will begin pre-season training in early August.
