10 Newcomers Highlight Carlin's First Recruiting Class at Villanova
May 1, 2008
VILLANOVA, Pa. - A deep and talented collection of 10 athletes comprises Villanova men's soccer class of 2008, it was announced today by new head coach Tom Carlin.
"We believe this class is among the best in the nation," stated Carlin, named head coach in January. "We have added two ESP invitees/attendees, two Gatorade High School State Players of the Year, a U18 National Pool Player, a NSCAA All-New England Selection, and three other players who potentially will make an immediate impact on the 2008 squad. Most importantly, we have added proven student-athletes who will make a positive impact on and off the field for the Villanova University community.
"This class will add size, athleticism, talent and much needed depth to an already seasoned core group who was able to achieve instant success last year with a 9-2 record in the first 11 games, a victory over No. 1 ranked Duke, a No. 23 national ranking, and a Big East Tournament berth."
