Defensive Player of the Year Andrew Weakly with coach Tom Carlin

March 3, 2014

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats put the final wraps on the 2013 season with their annual banquet, held recently at Xfinity Live in Philadelphia. The Wildcats saluted class of 2014 members Adetomiwa Adewole, Daniel Gonzalez, and Dylan Renna for their contributions to the program while also honoring others who excelled in 2013.

"It is always nice for our Villanova Men's Soccer family to get together and celebrate our accomplishments at the Men's Soccer end of the year banquet," stated head coach Tom Carlin. "While our season was not what we expected down the stretch, we still were able to beat nationally ranked opponentsCreighton & St.John's later in the season & build a solid base for next year's team.

"It was not easy replacing seven starters as we did from 2012 but we were a much better team at the end of the year than at the beginning. Now, we are building off of that fact. We are very proud of the commitment level of our players to this program and look forward to a successful 2014 campaign."

The full list of award winners from the Villanova Soccer Banquet includes:

Oscar Umar - Attacking Player of the Year
