VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova Wildcats have begun their preparations for the 2009 season with workouts and today announced a set of five spring exhibition games that will take place in late March and April.

The Wildcats travel to State College, Pa., on March 28 to participate in the Penn State Tournament.

On April 4, they visit Lehigh at 11 a.m. Next comes a match at Drexel on April 17 at 6:30 p.m. Two nights later, on April 19, the Wildcats will host Long Island University at 1:00 p.m. Then the `Cats wrap up their slate of spring tune-ups with a home match against Navy at 11:00 a.m.

It is all a prelude to a packed 2009 regular season that gets underway on Sept. 1 at Loyola University. Among the highlights is the home opener on Sept. 6 against Soccer Seven rival Penn; the opening BIG EAST home weekend against Connecticut (Friday, Sept. 18) and Providence (Sunday, Sept. 20) as well as an Oct. 3 date at the Soccer Complex with St. John's.
