PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior midfielder Everett Palache (Cleveland, Ohio/ Notre Dame Cathedral) scored with just over five minutes left in overtime as Philadelphia University defeated Villanova University, 2-1, in men's soccer action Wednesday afternoon at Ravenhill Field. With the victory, the Rams improve to 10-9-0 overall and 1-4-0 in the Philadelphia Soccer Seven while the Wildcats fall to 5-12-0 overall and 1-2-0 in the Soccer Seven.

After a scoreless first half, Villanova finally broke through, scoring on a penalty kick by sophomore forward Dan Massimini (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown) at the 77:16 mark. However, the Rams were able to fight back and tie the contest in the final two minutes of regulation. The game-tying goal came from freshman Paul Ordway (Newburgh, N.Y./Valley Central) at the 88:30 mark with help on an assist from junior David Ortega (Woodbury Heights, N.J./Gateway Regional).

In overtime, the Rams were able to turn away several quality chances by the Wildcats before putting the contest away when Palache tallied his fourth goal of the season. Palache took a pass from fellow senior Andy Zayas (Philadelphia, Pa./North Catholic) and was able to chip the ball over the head of Villanova keeper Pat Walsh (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) with 5:01 remaining in the first overtime session.

Philadelphia University will entertain St. Joseph's University in the final contest of the season for the Rams on Monday, November 12th. Villanova University, meanwhile, will close out its season on Saturday, November 10th, also against St. Joseph's University.
