Philadelphia - In a Philadelphia Soccer Seven contest on Tuesday, Oct. 23, the La Salle Explorers snapped Villanova's three game-winning streak defeating the Wildcats, 2-1. The loss drops Villanova to 5-8 overall, 1-1 in Soccer Seven action. The Explorers improve to 5-7-1 on the year, 2-0-1 in Soccer Seven play.

The Wildcats jumped out to an early one-goal lead in the fifth minute of play. Villanova's Ross Brindle (New Hope, Pa.) scored his first career goal on a cross from Koji Hamada (Bryn Mawr, Pa.).

The Explorers answered 26 minutes later on a goal by La Salle senior Lou Daniele to even the score at 1-1 before intermission. Freshman Kevin Coleman and David Lynch both assisted on the goal.

The Explorers scored the game-winning goal in the 66th minute of play. Sophomore Bobby Buonochristiano (Philadelphia, PA/Chestnut Hill Academy) scored on a pass from Daniele to go ahead, 2-1, and secure the victory.

Villanova will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 27, when they travel to South Orange, N.J. for a Big East showdown with the Seton Hall Pirates. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
