SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. - Villanova senior Mike Seamon (Rahway, N.J.) exploded for a pair of goals and added two assists to lead the Wildcats (5-3-1 overall, 2-2-0 BIG EAST) to a 4-1 victory over Seton Hall in a BIG EAST match played here on Sunday evening.

"Mike has been doing everything we have asked him to this season," stated Villanova head coach Tom Carlin of Seamon, who entered action tonight with three assists on the campaign. "Even though he hadn't scored a goal before tonight, we knew it was coming. We probably weren't expecting that it would come this fast and furious but it's well deserved.

"Mike just had a great night."

The New Jersey native got the scoring started at 12:01 of the first half when he dribbled in and blasted a shot from 20 yards into the back of the net to stake Villanova to the early lead. It was an important start in the wake of a 1-0 loss to Georgetown on Friday when the Hoyas got a goal in the fifth minute and then held on the rest of the way.

"I thought we came out very hungry tonight," Carlin stated. "All through the day yesterday we talked about getting out to a fast start. We have had two games this year, against UConn and Georgetown, where we thought we outplayed our opponent but didn't get the result we wanted. We were very focused on bringing energy from the first whistle and I thought we did that."

The Wildcats got their second goal at 42:39 when Seamon sent a corner kick into the box that classmate Adam Amann headed into the net.

"Mike served a good ball in and Amann did what he does so well," Carlin said. "He used his size and made a play for us."

A pair of Villanova goals early in the second half pushed the advantage to 4-0 before the 60th minute. Seamon notched his second goal at 58:25 and freshman Kyle Soroka followed with another off a feed from Seamon at 59:57 to open up the large lead.

Seton Hall's only goal of the night came on a Wildcat own goal at 77:54.

Sophomore Chris Bresnahan got the win in net, making two saves, before giving way to backup John Fogarty, who made his college debut in the final 12 minutes.

"This was a good road BIG EAST win for us," said Carlin. "Now we have a tough week ahead with a non-conference opponent in Lafayette followed by a Final Four team coming to Villanova in St. John's. But we're looking forward to those challenges."
