A native of Ghanna, he came to the Kent School and made a major impact on the soccer program ... In 2008 he led the Kent School to its first playoff appearance in more than two decades ... In 2009 and '10, he led the Kent School to the New England finals ... As a senior in 2010, he was an all-state pick in Connecticut and was a three time WNEPSSA choice.

Carlin on Umar: "From the first time we met Oscar, we knew he was a special student athlete and someone we wanted at Villanova. On the field he possesses the technical ability, work rate and field awareness to be an immediate attacking threat here at Villanova and in the Big East Conference."

"Off the field his unparalleled education and experiences at the Right To Dream Academy and the Kent School make him a natural yet unique future leader of our Men's Soccer program. We are confident that he will serve as a valuable ambassador for Villanova University as he truly embodies the mission of the University, which is to transform hearts, minds, and souls."
