Lacrosse Magazine 2012 Preseason Rankings

BALTIMORE, Md. - Lacrosse Magazine, the flagship publication of US Lacrosse, announced its 2012 preseason college rankings on Thursday afternoon. The Wildcats have earned the No. 10 spot which matches their ranking in the Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook released earlier this month.

BIG EAST foes Syracuse (No. 8) and Notre Dame (No. 9) also earned placement on the Lacrosse Magazine preseason list.

With just over a month and a half until the season starts, the Wildcats return 28 letterwinners and eight starters from the 2011 squad that earned the first-ever at-large berth into the NCAA Postseason Tournament. Seniors Kevin Cunningham (Garden City, N.Y.), Matt Bell (Severna Park, Md.) and Chris Creighton (West Chester, Pa.) lead the squad after earning preseason all-conference honors released earlier this month by Inside Lacrosse.

Villanova will open the 2012 season on Saturday, Feb. 18th vs. Lehigh in Bethlehem, Pa. and will also host the inaugural BIG EAST Tournament on May 3rd and 5th in Villanova Stadium
