Former Wildcat Lacrosse Coach Receives Hall of Fame Honor

Villanova, Pa. - Former Villanova University men's lacrosse coach Randy Marks has been inducted into the Eastern Pennsylvania Lacrosse Hall of Fame. The 2009 Hall of Fame class, which consists of four men and three women, will be formally inducted on Feb. 7, 2009 at the Desmond Hotel in the Great Valley Corporate Center located in Malvern, Pa. Marks coached the Wildcats from 1983-2006 and led Villanova to a 179-152 record (.540). During his Villanova career, Marks coached 19 All-Conference honorees, 14 North/South All-Stars, five USILA All-Americans, four academic All-Americans and two conference Players of the Year. In 2003, Marks led the Wildcats to a 10-5 record and was awarded for his success by earning CAA Coach of the Year accolades. In 2000, he was honored with the Frenchy Julien Sportsmanship Award which is presented annually to the coach who demonstrates outstanding and continued service to the game. Prior to his 24-year stint at Villanova, Marks was the assistant lacrosse coach at nearby Lower Merion High School. He also served as an assistant football coach at Lower Merion. Marks is currently in his third year as the first full-time assistant coach in the history of men's lacrosse at Franklin & Marshall College.
