BALTIMORE, Md. - Major League Lacrosse held its annual supplemental draft on Wednesday, December 11th and 2013 graduate Jack Rice (Baltimore, Md./Boys Latin) was chosen for a 2014 MLL roster spot, going as the third overall pick in the first round to the Boston Cannons. 96 players were selected during the annual supplemental draft prior to the start of the 2014 MLL season.
Rice's selection marks the second-straight for former Villanova men's lacrosse stars in the supplemental draft, with 2012 graduate Kevin Cunningham chosen second overall in the 2013 supplemental draft. Cunningham went on to have an outstanding season with the Hamilton National en route to being named an MLL All-Star in 2013.
Rice finished his career as one of the most decorated Villanova men's lacrosse student-athletes in program history after becoming Villanova's all-time leading goal scorer with 128 career goals. He was a three-time All-BIG EAST selection in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and was named to the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. As a four year starter on attack, Rice appeared in all 61 games of his career while making 59 starts and recorded 128 goals and four assists for 132 career points. Most recently, he was one of four Villanova men's lacrosse players named to the Team USA tryout roster for the 2014 FIL World Championship.
Boston finished the 2013 MLL season with a 5-9 overall record with a sixth place league finish.
