Villanova, Pa. - Sophomore Brian Karalunas (Dewitt, N.Y.) was named a 2009 USILA All-American it was announced today. He received Honorable Mention for his outstanding play at the long-stick midfield position for the Wildcats this season.

This is not the first recognition for Karalunas this season as he was named the 2009 Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year helping Villanova win the CAA Championship. He finished the 2009 season leading the team in both ground balls (68) and caused turnovers (25) while leading Villanova to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

Throughout the season Karalunas had standout performances including causing four turnovers in both the NCAA Tournament game against No. 1 Virginia and the CAA Championship game against Towson. He also picked up seven ground balls against No. 9 Hofstra on the 2009 regular season finale.
