BALTIMORE, Md. - Senior faceoff specialist Thomas Croonquist (North Caldwell, N.J.) and LSM John LoCascio (Fairfield, N.J.) end their collegiate careers this coming Sunday after being chosen to represent the South Team in the 73rd Annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association/Lax World North-South All-Star game, as announced Tuesday afternoon by the USILA.
The USILA/Lax World North-South Game will be played on Sunday, May 25th at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md. The Wildcat duo will be coached on the South team by Brad Jorgensen and Matt Musci of Saint Leo University while Lars Tiffany and Steven Boyle of Brown take the helm of the North squad. The North/South All-Star game began in 1940 and has been played every year with the exception of 1944 and 1945.
The 2013 and 2014 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, LoCascio is a two-time unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST selection and was also named to the BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament Team for a third consecutive season in 2014. He finished his senior season with 77 ground balls and 36 caused turnovers and also added in five goals and 13 assists for 18 points.
Croonquist was a 2014 BIG EAST Championship All-Tournament team selection and was chosen to the conference first team in 2013. He's won a total of 590-of-1,060 (.557) attempts from the X during his career and collected 295 ground balls which places him second on the all-time list at Villanova. He also tallied five goals and 10 assists for 15 points.
Each school is limited to two selections for the rosters. The last Wildcats chosen to play in the contest were Jack Rice and Max Hart in 2013. Rice earned MVP honors following the conclusion of the contest.
