Bell Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Villanova senior Matt Bell (Severna Park, Md.) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday morning.
Notre Dame's John Kemp earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the ninth week of conference awards.
Bell earns Offensive Player of the Week honors after posting five points via four goals and one assist in a 10-8 victory over St. John's on Saturday. With his performance, the senior midfielder helped the Wildcats secure a bid into the inaugural BIG EAST Conference Championship to be held May 3rd and 5th at Villanova Stadium. On the year, Bell has posted 13 goals, eight assists and 13 ground balls as a part of the first midfield line. This is the second conference honor in Bell's career.
The Wildcats also jumped to No. 11 in the USILA Coached Poll and held steady at No. 15 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll released on Monday morning.
Villanova will host No. 5 Notre Dame on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in Villanova Stadium. The contest will be nationally televised on ESPNU and will also serve as Senior Night to honor the 10 graduating upperclassmen on the Villanova roster.
