No. 19 Villanova Set for Final Home Game
April 16, 2009
Villanova, Pa. - The No. 19 Wildcats (8-4, 2-2 CAA) will host Robert Morris (8-6, 1-3 CAA) in their final regular season home game Saturday. Villanova is coming off a 9-8 loss to Drexel while the Colonials fell to Delaware 12-10 last Saturday. When the two teams met in 2008, Villanova edged the Colonials 11-10 in double overtime with the help of senior Tim Driscoll's (Montville, N.J.) two goals. In his final home game, the Wildcats will look to Driscoll yet again to add to his team-leading 23 goals in 2009. Adding to the Villanova offensive threat are seniors Matthew Fritts (Dallas, Tex.) and Chris MacDonald (Westfield, N.J.). Fritts is second on the team with 17 goals this season while he has added three assists. MacDonald leads Villanova and is second in the CAA with 16 assists and has tallied eight goals. The two have combined for 44 points this season and each has recorded at least one in each game this season. On the other side of the field Colonial sophomore Trevor Moore will be one for the Wildcats to watch. In 2008 Moore notched four goals and an assist against Villanova and he leads Robert Morris this season with 27 goals and 14 assists. Villanova continues to prove that their defense is top notch. The team is first in the nation in scoring defense allowing 6.25 goals per game while senior goalkeeper Andrew DiLoreto (Wilton, Conn.) ranks first in the nation with goals-against averages of 5.91. DiLoreto has recorded 98 saves this season and has a save percentage of .576.
Villanova has won each of the past three meetings between the two teams and will hope to make it four in a row Saturday. The game is set for 1 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
