Croonquist Named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, Kluh to Honor Roll

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior face-off specialist Thomas Croonquist (North Caldwell, N.J.) has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week while freshman John Kluh (Lothian, Md.) has been named to the Weekly Honor Roll for their perspective performances last weekend versus St. John's, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Croonquist posted a.630 faceoff win percentage going 17-for-27 to help lift Villanova over the 14th-ranked Red Storm 13-11 on Saturday as the Wildcats remained undefeated in conference play. Additionally, Croonquist grabbed 10 ground balls and won eight straight faceoff's to bridge the third and fourth quarters, including going 4-for-4 in the final 15 minutes of play to provide Villanova with valuable possessions down the stretch. With his 17 faceoff wins, it marked the third time this season Croonquist has posted at least 15 faceoff wins in a single game. For the season, Croonquist has won 138-of-246 attempts at faceoff for a .561 win percentage in 2013.
Kluh earned the first BIG EAST Honor Roll accolades of his career following his three goal, one assist performance against St. John's. His four points and three goals matched career-high's for the freshman. Following the contest, Kluh is now Villanova's leading point scorer with 24 points via 16 goals and eight assists and has tallied 13 points (3.25 ppg) in BIG EAST play through four games.
No. 19 Villanova will be back in action for their final road game of the season when they travel to No. 2 Notre Dame on Saturday, April 20th. Game time is slated for 2 p.m. and will be televised nationally on ESPNU.
