LAST TIME OUT: Last Saturday, Villanova took on Sacred Heart at Villanova Stadium, as the Wildcats attempted to get back to their winning ways after Bucknell snapped a three-game winning streak last Wednesday. Nova got on the board first on scores by Justin Loonie and Chris Corr, giving the home team a 2-0 lead. The Pioneers then started their offense scoring back-to-back goals of their own as Ray Gogarty and Chris Lukowski netted a goal apiece, evening up the score 2-2. But Villanova ended the first quarter with three unanswered goals to give the 'Cats a 5-2 lead after one. As the scoring frenzy continued into the second quarter, the teams exchanged goals, but the Wildcats held on to a 9-5 lead into the break. In the third, Villanova attacked the Pioneers with three straight goals by Tom Hourican, Tom Lasky and Peter Flynn as Nova began to pull away, taking a 12-5 lead. Andrew Bogle's goal late in the fourth was the last for Villanova as the 'Cats cruised to victory, defeating Sacred Heart 13-7.

HEAD COACH RANDY MARKS: In his 17th season, Villanova head coach Randy Marks has made his mark on the Main Line. Since his arrival, the Wildcats have compiled a 118-104 record while playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation year after year. During his time at Villanova, Marks has coached four players that were named to the North/South All-Star Game and four players that earned USILA All-America honors. In 1991, Coach Marks led the Wildcats to their first national ranking. That same year, the team finished the season ranked No. 20 in the USILA Poll. Marks also reached the 100 win plateau in the '96 season as the 'Cats defeated Lehigh 6-4.

Behind this trio is sophomore goalie Matt Wilk who has 115 saves on the season and his goals against average of 11.4, good enough to rank him nationally.

FAMILY MATTERS: Last season when these two teams met, the game pitted father against son. Villanova head coach Randy Marks once coached his son David at Nova, prior to his transfer to Johns Hopkins following his freshmen season. In their meeting last year, the younger Marks came out on the winning end as David tallied five points on one goal and four assists. David Marks finished the '98 season third in total points for the Blue Jays. This season the family tradition continues as the middle son, Justin Marks is a freshmen for the Wildcats.
