Wildcats Ready for First of Four Straight Conference Games

Villanova, Pa. - The Wildcats (7-3, 1-1 CAA) are set to host Towson (5-5, 3-0 CAA) Wednesday in their third conference game of the season. Villanova will be looking for its second conference win while trying to hand the Tigers their first CAA loss. The 2008 meeting between the two teams resulted in a 7-4 victory for Villanova giving them their first win against the Tigers in 16 match ups.
Wednesday's contest will feature Villanova's number one scoring defense in the country allowing an average 6.2 goals per game. Senior goalkeeper Andrew DiLoreto (Wilton, Conn.) has a save percentage of .585 which is second in the CAA. DiLoreto, who has provided consistency in the net for Villanova, has held opponents to four goals four separate games this season and holds the nations best goals-against average of 5.77.
Against Towson, the defense will be focusing on stopping Tiger Bill McCutcheon. The senior leads Towson with 17 goals and 11 assist and is fifth in the CAA in points per game with 2.80.
On the offensive side of the ball, the Wildcats have received excellent play from seniors Tim Driscoll (Montville, N.J.), Chris MacDonald (Westfield, N.J.) and Matthew Fritts, (Dallas, Tex.). Driscoll, who has led Villanova in goals all season and currently has 20, scored five times last week including three goals against No. 3 Notre Dame. MacDonald and Fritts both have scored at least one point in each of Villanova's 10 games. MacDonald, currently with 95 career points, is tied for first on the team with 13 assists while Fritts is second in goals with 13.
The meeting between the two squads is set for Wednesday April 8th at 7 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.
