PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Junior face-off specialist Thomas Croonquist (North Caldwell, N.J.) has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for his performances against No. 14 Drexel and Delaware, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
Croonquist posted a career-high 19 faceoff wins and won 17 consecutive draws in a 12-10 loss to Drexel on Tuesday evening. During the contest, Croonquist tallied an impressive .826 win percentage and grabbed six ground balls while denying the Dragons a draw until the fourth quarter of the contest. He followed that performance winning 13-of-26 (.500) draws in a 14-9 victory over Delaware where he also captured seven ground balls for the night.
For the season, Croonquist's .611 faceoff win percentage currently ranks him 8th in the NCAA while his career win percentage stands a .604 and is third-best all-time at Villanova. He also leads the team with 19 ground balls on the year.
Villanova will be back in action on Tuesday, March 5th when the Wildcats take on No. 5 Princeton at the Class of 1952 Stadium. Game time is slated for 7 p.m. in Princeton, N.J.
