Cats Claw Past Eagles
Villanova, Pa. --- The Villanova University men's lacrosse team defeated the Boston College Eagles, 17-13 on Saturday, April 18, at Villanova Stadium on the campus of Villanova University.
The Wildcats got the offensive going 18 seconds into the game on a goal by junior Andy D'Amico (Harve de Grace,Md./Aberdeen). The offense continued to flow for the Wildcats, as they scored 10 goals in the first half. The Eagles did not get on the board until the 11:30 mark of the first quarter, when junior Tyler Jewell (Sudbury,Mass./Lincoln) picked up a groundball and put it past Wildcat goalie Mike Mullette (Montclair, N.J./Montclair). The Eagles tried mount a comeback as the Eagles scored six goals in the fourth period. The Wildcats dominated on the stat sheets has took 11 more shots and picked up 15 more groundballs.
The Wildcats had 11 different goal scorers on the afternoon. Villanova was led offensively by senior Jeff Huber (Ellicott City, Md./Loyola) who netted three goals for the 'Cats. Huber also chipped in with four assists. Between the pipes Mullette made 15 saves on 33 shots. For the Eagles Anthony Cirri made 15 saves on 44 shots. With the win the Wildcats improve to 5-7 on the season. Their next game will be at Lehigh University on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:30 pm.
