German Named Assistant Coach for Team Thailand

Villanova Assistant Coach to Coach Thailand National Team in FIL World Games

Andy German returns to the Villanova sideline for his fourth season as an assistant men's lacrosse coach in 2013-14. Under Head Coach Mike Corrado, German serves as the defensive coordinator in addition to assisting in practice and game preparation.

During his three years on the Main Line, German has played a significant role in team offensive and defensive development while consistently playing one of the toughest schedules in the nation. In 2013, German helped solidify the Wildcats place amongst the nation's elite after earning the BIG EAST Regular Season Title and securing the No. 1 overall seed for the 2013 BIG EAST Tournament. Villanova advanced to the BIG EAST Championship contest before falling to the eventual NCAA runner-up Syracuse, 13-9, in Villanova, Pa. which ended the Wildcats hopes for an NCAA postseason berth.

In 2012, German helped propel Villanova to new heights after the team was ranked well inside the top-20 for all 16 weeks during the regular season and finished the year with an 8-7 overall record. In 2011, German guided the Wildcats to their highest ranking in program history at No. 7 in the Nike/Inside Lacrosse and USILA polls as the Wildcats earned their first-ever at-large berth to the NCAA postseason tournament. Traveling to the University of Denver in what would be the first NCAA tournament game to be played west of the Mississippi, the Wildcats narrowly fell to the Pioneeres, 13-10, on Denver's home turf.

German has also helped several players earn regional and national distinction under his direction. John LoCascio (2013 USILA Third Team All-American, 2013 BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year, 2013 First Team All-BIG EAST, 2012 Second Team All-BIG EAST), Jack Rice (2013 USILA Honorable Mention All-American, 2013 Second Team All-BIG EAST, 2012 First Team All-BIG EAST, 2011 First Team All-BIG EAST), Thomas Croonquist (2013 First Team All-BIG EAST, 2012 Second Team All-BIG EAST), Chris Conroy (2013 First Team All-BIG EAST), John Kluh (2013 First Team All-BIG EAST), Max Hart (2013 Second Team All-BIG EAST), Kevin Cunningham (2012 USILA Honorable Mention All-American, 2012 BIG EAST Attack Player of the Year, 2012 First Team All-BIG EAST, 2012 BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, 2011 First Team All-BIG EAST), Matt Bell (2012 First Team All-BIG EAST) and Michael Vigilante (2012 Second Team All-BIG EAST) have all earned national recognition under German's tutelage.

Prior to returning to Villanova, German served as the offensive and recruiting coordinator at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, Pa. In 2009, German guided the Crusaders to a 5-11 record and in 2010, improved the team to 8-8.

A native of Wayne, Pa., German attended Division III Alfred University for two years after graduating from Radnor High School where he garnered All-America honors and served as team captain in 2003. After transferring to Villanova for the 2006 season, German developed into a captain and two-year starter as a midfielder.

German, a 2008 Villanova alumnus, graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. He currently resides in King of Prussia, Pa.
