Joe Canuso returns for his the season at the assistant coachiing position in 2009. His range of responsibilities has increased, which includes working with the goalies and helping with the development of the Wildcat defense. Canuso graduated as one of the most decorated Wildcats in program history. The Moorestown, N.J. native is Villanova's all-time leader in saves (672) and spent most of his career in the top ten in the nation in save percentage and goals against average. He earned CAA Co-Rookie of the Year and second team honors in 2003, Co-Player of the Year and first team honors in 2004, second team All-CAA in 2005, and Canuso received second team honors in 2006 as well. The co-captain was tabbed as a preseason All-American by FaceOff Magazine and started last year on the Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List. Canuso graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor's of Science in Communication. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Barrage and backed up Brian Dougherty for a season before joining the Long Island Lizards. He resides in Moorestown, N.J. and works as a manager in shipping and receiving for Louis P. Canuso Inc. |
