Jake Froccaro named Student-Athlete of the Month
Villanova men’s lacrosse attacker Jake Froccaro has been named by the Office of Academic Support as the Student-Athlete of the Month for March as a result of his accomplishments both in athletic competition and academically.
Gallaway and Moderski to BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Villanova men’s lacrosse seniors Johnny Gallaway and John Moderski were named to this week’s BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, announced by the conference Monday afternoon.
Men's Lacrosse is Heading to the BIG EAST Tournament
The Villanova men’s lacrosse team has qualified for their fifth-straight BIG EAST Tournament as decided yesterday following this weekend’s conference games. The Wildcats are the only team in the BIG EAST who have qualified for every single league tournament since the postseason playoff began in the 2012 season.
Wildcats Dominate at St. John's to Win 18-13
The second quarter was all Wildcats; McNamara found Jack Curran just under a minute in and seconds later Matt McIver found Jake Froccaro to bring the Cats within one. St. John’s DeBenedictis scored his third goal of the game, this would be the last lead the Red Storm would have.
No. 18 Villanova to Play Last Road Game at St. John's Saturday
Series History: Saturday will mark the 18th time in program history these two BIG EAST schools will faceoff. The Wildcats hold the all-time record 10-7 over the Red Storm, with the most recent victory coming last season at home by a final of 21-11.
Curran named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Villanova senior Jack Curran has been named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. In addition, junior defender Danny Sweeney has been named to the weekly honor roll. The duo helped lead the Wildcats to a 16-4 win over BIG EAST rival Georgetown on Saturday.
No. 18 Villanova Dominates Second Half to Win 16-4 over Georgetown
The rest of the game was all Villanova; McNamara scored the last goal before halftime at the 4:24 mark to tie the game at 4 heading into halftime. Jack Curran dominated the third quarter, scoring the first two goals and then assisting the next three. Curran’s second goal was on a pass from McNamara while set up two goals for Gallaway and one for Jake Froccaro.
No. 18 Villanova Set to Host Georgetown Saturday at 5 P.M.
Series History: Saturday will mark the 24th time in program history these two BIG EAST teams will faceoff. Villanova holds the series record 13-10, with their last win coming in 2014 by a final of 13-8. The first matchup ever between these two schools took place in 1981 during the first year Villanova was a varsity program and it was the Wildcats who came out victorious by a final of 10-6.
