"I am thrilled that Will has been selected by the BIG EAST Conference as the male representative attending the 2017 NCAA Leadership Forum. Will is a leader on his team, serving as a senior Captain this year, in our student-athlete community as SAAC Co-President, and for the campus community & student body at large, as the 2017-18 Student Government Association Vice President." Director of Student-Athlete Development Allison Venella on her reaction of Byrne being selected as the male representative.
Consideration in selecting nominees for participation in the Leadership Forum was given to student-athletes with a diverse representation of experiences that has had a positive influence on their campus and within the community.
Villanova Athletic Director Mark Jackson proved Byrne's worthiness of participation when he quoted that "Will is a perfect example of someone who has taken full advantage of all that Villanova and the Big East has offered and we could not be prouder of his participation as the male representative for the Big East at the NCAA Leadership Forum."
