Wildcats Fall to Georgetown 4-3 in First Round of Match Play

SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. - The Villanova Wildcats fell to Georgetown University in the first-round of play at Pine Needles Golf Course on Friday afternoon. The Wildcats lost by a 3-4 margin in open play at the North Carolina venue. Junior Brendan Kelly and sophomore Brian Colbert both picked up individual first-round victories despite the team outcome. Kelly defeated Georgetown's Brian Dorfman 7 & 6 at the No. 1 position while Colbert defeated Brandon Ellis 4 &2 at the No. 2 spot. With the loss, Villanova drops into the loser's bracket of the tournament-style event which features 11 of 12 BIG EAST Conference programs and concludes Sunday, Nov. 1st. With a first-round team loss, Villanova can finish no higher than eighth place. The Wildcats will now go head-to-head with Marquette on Saturday afternoon.
