Villanova, Pa. - After eleven days off, the Villanova men's golf team returns to action on Friday at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate hosted by East Tennessee State (ETSU). The tournament will be played Oct. 13-15 at the Blackthorn Club, a par 72 course that measures 7,147 yards, located in Jonesborough, Tenn.
This year's field is very competitive, featuring 15 teams from across the country. In addition to Villanova, Coastal Carolina, East Carolina, host ETSU, Furman, Kansas State, Kent State, Louisville, Missouri, Penn State, UNC-Wilmington, Tennessee, VCU, Virginia and Virginia Tech will play in the tournament.
Virginia won the tournament last year after shooting rounds of 280-269-280=829 (-35).
All teams will play 54 holes of golf spread out over three days. Play will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 13.
This is the fifth straight year that the Wildcats have played in the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate. Andy Butler, Zach Egermayer, Connor Daly, and Andrew MacMillan participated in the tournament in 2016.
Villanova's lineup for this year's tournament will look quite familiar with the exception of the two freshman Matt Barnes and Reb Banas. Daly, Butler, Egermayer and Barnes and Banas are scheduled to tee off this weekend.
