Golf Heads to CHAMP/Patriot Intercollegiate This Weekend

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova golf team heads to Lorton, Va. for the CHAMP/Patriot Intercollegiate this weekend at Laurel Hills Golf Course in Lorton, Va., hosted by George Mason University. The 7,010-yard, par 71 course features 11 teams for the 54-hole event with two rounds on Saturday and the final round on Sunday, Sept. 30.

The field includes IUPUI, Lafayette, Longwood, Missouri, Penn, Villanova, George Mason, Delaware, Drexel, Hofstra, James Madison and Towson.

Each team will have five players with the lowest four scores counting towards the team score. The opening two rounds will begin Saturday, Sept. 29 with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The final round will occur on Sunday, Sept. 30, with the first tee time scheduled for 8:30 a.m.

The Wildcats are coming off a 4th place team finish at the Adams Cup of Newport, with senior Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) posting the highest individual finish tying for third place overall with rounds of 69-73-3--215 (+4). In the first event of the season, Villanova placed a respectable sixth out of 13 teams in the Turning Store Intercollegiate.

Results will be available on following the conclusion of Saturday and Sunday's rounds.
