VERONA, N.Y. - Villanova Golf will once again open its season in Verona, N.Y. at the Turning Stone Intercollegiate this weekend, Sept. 1-2.
The event will be played on the Kualuhyat Course at Turning Stone Resort and will consist of 54 holes. Thirty-six holes will be played on Sunday, while the final 18 holes will be played on Monday. The Wildcats are familiar with the par 72 course as it marks the second-straight year Villanova has opened the season at the Upstate New York resort. The Wildcats finished 6th out of 13 teams last season and was led by Cory Siegfried who finished the tournament tied for 16th place.
Including Villanova, 14 teams will be competing in the tournament. Other teams competing include the host, Missouri, as well as Binghamton, Canisius, Central Connecticut State, Cleveland State, Connecticut, Detroit, George Mason, LaSalle, Loyola University Chicago, McNeese State, Seton Hall and St. Peter's.
At last year's event Missouri's Jace Long paved the path to victory. Long (66-66-69--201) dominated the tournament and earned the title of individual champion.
