Kania Named to 2013 All-BIG EAST Team

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Senior golf co-captain Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) has been named to the 2013 All-BIG EAST Men's Golf team as announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon. Kania concluded a stellar career with the Wildcats following the conclusion of the BIG EAST Championship on April 28th.
Kania's career highlights include being named the 2012 BIG EAST Golf Player of the Month for October, the 2012-13 American Eagle Outfitters Male Institutional Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a three-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, a two-time member of the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team and a two-time captain. Kania has claimed 16 top-20 finishes, eight top-10 finishes and two individual championships during his three years on the team after transferring from the University of Kentucky following his freshman season. His four-year average par total stands at 73.9 and he also served as the President of Villanova's Student Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2012-13 academic year.
Kania will graduate from Villanova with a degree in Communications from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences with a 3.4 cumulative GPA.
