Wildcats Fall in Rare Duel Match to The College of Coastal Georgia

ST. SIMON'S ISLAND, Ga. - The Villanova men's golf team took on NAIA foe The College of Coastal Georgia in a rare match against a single-opponent on Thursday, falling 292-297 in an 18-hole competition between the two teams at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simon's Island, Ga.

CCG, ranked 11th in the country in the NAIA, had not finished outside the top four in any tournament they have played in this year dating back to the fall schedule.

Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) once again led Villanova, pacing the `Cats with a 69 on the day. Derek Jones (Lower Burrell, Pa.), Ted Brennan (Newtown Square, Pa.) and Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) notched rounds of 73, 76 and 79, respectively. The Wildcats are fresh off a sixth place team finish at the Harmony Golf Preserve Intercollegiate where Kania finished tied for 15th place to lead the team.

Villanova will conclude their Spring Break schedule this coming weekend when they participate in the Pinehurst Intercollegiate March 10th-12th in Pinehurst, N.C.
