Horky Ties for Ninth; Wildcats Finish Fifth

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Steve Horky (Sr., Mwquon, WI) placed ninth among the top ten golfers to help the Villanova men's golf team to a fifth-place finish in the team competition at the Delaware Invitational, held Sunday and Monday, Nov. 9-10, 1997.

Horky shot 77-79 for a two day total of 156, to tie for ninth place with four other golfers. The Navy men's golf team won the team title at the Cave Valley Country Club shooting a 47-over par 615, to win the two day, 36 hole tournament by 12 shots over runner-up Loyola (MD).

Dugan Condon (So., Pittsford, NY) and Nick Masselli (Fr., Hopewll Junction, NY) were not far behind Horky, as Condon had a two day total of 158, shooting 76-82 and Masselli 80-80 for 160. Rounding out the scoring for the Wildcats were Brian McHugh (Jr., Lackawanna, NY) who shot 82-82 for a two day total 164, and Garrett Feduke (Fr., Vestal, NY) who shot 83-81 for a total of 164. Aaron Wright of Navy won the individual medal honors with a score of four-under par 146.

This tournament concludes the Villanova fall golf season. They begin their spring season on March 9-10, 1997 at the William & Mary Invitational.
