LEESBURG, Va. - Freshman Patrick Murphy (Chicago, Ill.) continued his impressive fall season with a first round score of 74, and Villanova shot a team round of 309 on Sunday at the Georgetown Invitational. The Wildcats were in 10th place out of 12 teams at the 6,815-yard, par-72 Lansdowne Resort.

Murphy was followed by sophomores Brian Feeney (Pelham, N.Y.) and Brock Bergman (Pittsburgh, Pa.). Feeney carded a 77 for his round, while Bergman posted a 78. Juniors Jonathan Hewett (Sioux Falls, S.D.) and Henry Watson (Pittsburgh, Pa.) came in with identical scores of 80 to round out the scores for Villanova.

Murphy's 2-over-par round came by way of a 36-38 split. He shot even par on the front nine before slipping to 2-over on the final nine holes. Murphy played the course's four par-3 holes at 1-under-par, and joined six other golfers in posting the second-best par-3 scoring mark.

Eastern Michigan jumped out to the team lead with a round of 3-under-285 and was four strokes ahead of Ohio University. Blake Russell of Ohio led the field of 65 golfers after a round of 3-under-69.

The tournament continues with the final 18 holes being played on Monday.
