SAUCON, Pa. - The Villanova golf team is off to a commanding start at the Lehigh Invitational at Saucon Valley Country Club's Grace Course. After round one, the Wildcats are currently in first place in the team competition while seniors Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) and Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) are currently in first and second place overall after carding rounds of 68 (-4) and 70 (-2), respectively.

Trailing Villanova in the team standings are Fordham, Rutgers, Lehigh, Bucknell, Lafayette, Siena and Colgate. Colgate's Will Delano, Fordham's Jason Del Rosso and Brody Nieporte and Rutgers Jonathan Chang are currently tied for third place behind Kania and Skurla's lead in the 45 player field.

With one final round pending on Sunday morning, Villanova will look to hold their first place lead as they conclude their fall tournament schedule with a 9:30am shotgun start. Their day one standing is currently the best first round finish of the season.
