JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. - The Villanova Golf team concluded play at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate hosted by East Tennessee State University in Jonesborough, Tenn. on Sunday afternoon in 14th place. Freshman Peter Mandich paced the Wildcats with a total score of 235 (82-78-75) and tied for 70th place overall in the highly competitive field for the three-day event.
Virginia claimed the overall team title with a three day score of 842 (-22) to finish one stroke ahead of Virginia Tech. Kent State placed third at -20 for a hotly contested top-three finish. ETSU, Wake Forest, Memphis, Tennessee, Missouri, UNC Wilmington Coastal Carolina, Furman, Army, Penn State and Villanova rounded out the team finishes at the Blackthorn Club. Virginia Tech's Scott Vincent claimed the individual title with a three-day score of 203 (-13) while Wake Forest's Thomas Birdsey and Virginia's Denny McCarthy both tied for second place overall at -11.
Villanova's Ted Brennan and Robby Meador finished in 73rd and 74th place, respectively while Lucas Trim and Scott Miller rounded out the Wildcat scores for the event in 75th ad 78th place.
Villanova will return to the links for their final event of the fall season on Oct. 27th and 28th when they make the trek to Bethlehem, Pa. for the Lehigh Invitational.
