Jonesborough, Tenn. - Following the first day of competition at the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate, the Wildcats are currently in 14th place after day one of competition at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn. Villanova posted a team score of 327 (+39) to begin the three-day event hosted by East Tennessee State University.
Junior Ted Brennan (Newtown Square, Pa.) leads the Wildcats with a first round score of 79 (+7) while senior Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.) is just one stroke behind at +8 for the day (80). Freshman Peter Mandich (Naperville, Ill.) finished third on the team carding an 82 (+10) on the afternoon, while classmate Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla.) and junior Scott Miller (Madison, N.J.) rounded out the Villanova scoring with rounds of 86 (+14) and 95 (+23), respectively. Meador also posted an eagle on the 14th hole to help the Wildcats, carding a three on the par-5 hole on the back nine of the course.
Host institution ETSU leads the field at -11 with a team score of 277 to pace the competition led by the first place finish of Rhys Pugh who carded a -6 for the afternoon.
The Wildcats will look to improve on their team standing when they start the second day of competition at No. 1 once again. Tee times will begin at 8:30am and continue until 12:40pm.
