Big 5 Final Results

FLOURTOWN, Pa. - The Villanova golf team took a late rally to finish in 9th place (311-302; 613, +33) of 17 teams at the Philadelphia Big 5 Invitational. The two-day event concluded Sunday afternoon at the Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pa. with Campbell University taking home top overall team honors while Penn took the top spot of the Big 5 universities.

Villanova junior Colin List (76-76; 152, +10) finished tied for 32nd place and was the lowest scorer for the Wildcats. Sophomore Brian Colbert (78-75; 153, +11) tied for 37th place after compiling a 78 and 75 first and second rounds. Rounding out the top 5 was sophomore Bret McGaughey (80-75; 155, +13), junior Brendan Kelly (79-76; 155, +13) and freshman Steve Skurla (78-78; 156, +14) finishing tied for 46th, 46th and 54th place, respectively.

Campbell University (297-290; 587, +19) took top team honors with their own Zak Drescher (67-73; 140, -2) taking top individual honors. Rounding out the top five teams were Richmond and Yale, with Penn and Binghamton tied for 4th place overall.

The Villanova Wildcats are back in action next weekend as they travel to Easton, Pa. to participate in the Lehigh Invitational. Play is scheduled for Oct. 17th and 18th.
