Final Stats

Moosic, Pa. ----- The Villanova golf team finished the Temple Invitational tied for 12th place out of 14 teams in their fourth tournament of the fall season at Glenmaura National Golf Club in Moosic, Pa.

Temple's Jon Rusk shot a two-day total of 139 (-3) as he captured the individual championship and the University of Maryland edged Temple in team play by one stroke to win the team championship.

Sophomore Matt Gugino (Leroy, N.Y.) was the top Wildcat finisher shooting 154 (+12) for the tournament.

Five other golfers played for Villanova including Jeff Parry (Columbia, Md.) who shot 158 (+16), Shawn Standen (Avon Lakes, Ohio) who shot 161 (+19), Ben Eisner (Nags Head, N.C.) who shot 166 (+24) and John Ward (Millburn, N.J.) who shot 168 (+26).

As a team, the Wildcats finished with a two day total of 638 (+70) for the 36-hole tournament.

The Villanova golf team will return to action on Oct. 11-13 when they will tee off at the Stabler Invitational hosted by Lehigh University.
