Golf Tied for Fourth Place After Day One of CHAMP/Patriot Intercollegiate

LORTON, Va. - After the first day of competition in the CHAMPS/Patriot Intercollegiate, hosted by George Mason University, Villanova is tied for fourth place overall with Penn after carding a team total of 296-292--588. The Wildcats have one round to play on Sunday to improve in the team and individual standings.

Missouri currently leads the competition in the team standings, followed by Delaware, Hofstra, Penn and Villanova rounding out the top five. Missouri's Emilio Cuartero is currently the top individual for the day after posting rounds of 71-67--138 (-4).

Michael Kania and Steve Skurla set a blistering pace for the Wildcats are are tied for fifth place overall after carding combined rounds of 143 (+1). Cory Siegfried, Derek Jones and Jimmy Johnston round out the Villanova individual spots tied for 32nd, 44th and 70th places with rounds of 150, 152 and 161, respectively.

The Wildcats will conclude competition with one final round tomorrow morning.
