LORTON, Va. - Following the first day of competition at the Patriot Intercollegiate in Lorton, Va., the Villanova Wildcats are currently in 8th place in the 11 team field after two rounds of play. The final round will commence tomorrow morning as the Wildcats look to move up in the team and individual standings.
Robby Meador leads the squad tied for 26th place overall after posing a two-round score of 150 (73-77; +8). Peter Mandich follows closely behind in 30th place after finishing at +9 (75-76; 151). Ted Brennan concluded day one in 35th place (74-78--152; +10) while Lucas Trim (78-75--153; +11) and Scott Miller (79-84--163; +21) round out the Villanova finishers in 40th and 61st place, respectively.
Marshall's Brian Anania leads the field after posting two-round scores of 70 and 69 to finish at -3 for the day. Hofstra's David Mecca is closely behind at -2 while five student-athletes are at -1.
Marshall also leads the team field with a score of 287 while Christopher Newport is just five strokes behind at 292. Hofstra comes in third place while George Mason, Columbia, La Salle and Penn are all tied for fourth place with team scores of 298. Villanova, Delaware, IUP and Wagner round out the team finishes for the day.
The final round of the Patriot Intercollegiate will commence on Sunday morning with a final 18 holes to determine the team and individual champions. Results will be posted on villanova.com as soon as they are made available.
