Harrisonburg, Va.. ----- The Villanova golf team traveled to Harrisonburg, Va., on Sept. 22-23 and finished 13th in a field of 24 teams at the James Madison Invitational held at Lakeview Golf Club.

Villanova's top finisher, freshman Jeff Parry (Columbia, Md.), shot a two round total of 142 (E). Parry tied for twelfth in a field of over 120 golfers. Parry shot an opening round 70 (-1) on day one, followed by a second round of 72 (+1), at the 36-hole tournament. It was Parry's second top-20 finish of the fall season. Sophomore Matt Gugino (Leroy, N.Y.) ended the tournament tied for 31st, shooting a two-day total of 146 (+4). Gugino opened the tournament shooting his best round of the season, 70 (-1).

Other Wildcats participating in team play included freshmen Shawn Standen (Avon Lakes, Ohio) who shot 148 (+6), Chris Peterson (Edina, Minn.) who shot 151 (+9), and Ben Eisner (Nags Head, N.C.) who shot 156 (+14).

Collectively, the Wildcats shot 587 (+19) for the tournament finishing 13th in team play.

Villanova will play in the 54-hole St. John's/McLaughlin Invitational on Sept. 26-28.
