NEWPORT, R.I. - The Villanova Wildcats concluded the Adams Cup of Newport tied for 13th place overall on the final day of competition in Newport, R.I. Junior Ted Brennan led the squad finishing tied for 14th place with a three round total of 225 (73-76-76; +9).
UCF claimed the overall team title with a three-round score of 856. Bethune-Cookman took second place while Rhode Island, Hartford, Johnson and Wales, Bryant, Rollins, Temple, Connecticut, Sacred Heart, St. Joseph's, Fordham, George Washington, Villanova, UMass-Lowell and Holy Cross rounded out the team finishes for the two-day event.
Bethune-Cookman's Ryan Fricker ran away with the individual title and finished at -11 with scores of 67-66-72--205. UCF had the next four finishers with Greg Eason, Ricardo Gouveia, Linus Vaisanen and Kyle Wilshire rounding out the top five slots. Following in Brennan's footsteps were Lucas Trim (81-78-79--238), Robby Meador (79-78-82--239), Luke Waggoner (78-87-82--247) and Vince Boyle (85-82-85--252) tied for 53rd, 57th, 80th and 87th places, respectively.
Villanova will return to action on Sept. 28th and 29th when they travel to Lorton, Va. for the Patriot Intercollegiate.
