Brennan Leads Wildcats After Day One at Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. - Following round one at the Adams Cup of Newport hosted by the University of Rhode Island, the Villanova Wildcats are currently tied for 12th place after posting a team score of 311 (+23) at the par-72, 7,244 yard Newport National Golf Course in Newport, R.I.. The final round of play will resume on Tuesday to determine the individual and team winners.
Junior Ted Brennan (Newtown Square, Pa.) leads the Wildcats tied for 13th place after posting a first round score of 73 (+1). Sophomore Luke Waggoner (Crystal Lake, Ill.) (78; +6), senior Robby Meador (Miami Lakes, Fla.) (79; +7), freshman Lucas Trim (Tampa, Fla.) (81; +9), and senior Vince Boyle (Philadelphia, Pa.) (85; +13) round out the Villanova finishers tied for 42nd, 48th, 67th and 86th place, respectively.
UCF's Greg Eason leads the individual field after posting a first-round score of 66 to put himself at -6 for the afternoon. He is one stroke ahead of Bethune-Cookman's Ryan Fricker who is closely behind at -5 (67).
UCF currently sits in first place with a team score of 273 (-15) and is the only school under par. Bethune-Cookman, Johnson & Wales, Hartford and URI round out the top five. Bryant, Sacred Heart, Connecticut, Temple, St. Joseph's, George Washington, Rollins, Villanova, Holy Cross, Fordham and UMass-Lowell follow behind in the team standings.
