Wildcats in Third Place After Day One of Adams Cup of Newport

NEWPORT, R.I. - After the first day of competition in the Adams Cup of Newport, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, Villanova is sitting pretty in third place overall with a team rounds of 292-301--593. The Wildcats have one round to play on Tuesday to improve in the team and individual standings.
UCF currently leads the competition in the team standings, followed by Yale, Villanova, Johnson & Wales and the University of Connecticut rounding out the top five. UCF's Ricardo Gouveia and Yale's Sam Bernstein are currently tied for first place individually after posting combined rounds of 140.
Senior Michael Kania leads Villanova and is in fourth place overall after carding rounds of 69-73--142 (+2) on the day. He is followed closely behind by Steve Skurla (69-73--146), Ted Brennan (77-75--152), Derek Jones (76-80--156) and Cory Siegfried (74-83--157) who are tied for 12th, 27th, 43rd and 50th places, respectively.
The Wildcats will conclude the competition with one final round tomorrow morning.
