Wildcat Golfers Finish 18th At The Navy Fall Invitational

Annapolis, Md. ----- In the first tournament of the fall season, the Villanova golf team finished 18th out of 27 teams at the Navy Fall Invitational held at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Course in Annapolis, Md., from Sept. 8-9. The Wildcats top finisher, freshman Jeff Parry (Columbia, Md.), shot a two round total of 143 (+1). Parry placed sixth among the field of over 140 golfers. Parry shot 71 (E) on day one followed by a round of 72 (+1) on day two of the tournament. Freshman Ben Eisner (Nags Head, N.C.) ended the two day tournament tied for 59th place, shooting 152 (+10). Eisner's tournament was highlighted by a one-under par (70) round on Sunday. Other Wildcats participating in team play included sophomore Matt Gugino (Leroy, N.Y.) who shot 158 (+16), freshman Kevin Foster (Newington, Conn.) who shot 159 (+17) and freshman Charlie Nettleton (Lisle, Ill.) who shot 162 (+20). Team captain Joe Ryan (Rochester, N.Y.) recorded a two-day total of 174 (+32) in individual play.
Villanova will play in the 36-hole James Madison Ivitational on Sept. 21-23.
