Kania Moves into 21st Place, Wildcats Tied for 10th at BIG EAST Championship

ORLANDO, Fla. - Following the second round of play at the BIG EAST Championship in Orlando, Fla. The Villanova Wildcats are tied for 10th place in the 12 team field with a team score of 600 (+24). The three-day championship at the Reunion Resort's Watson Course will conclude on Tuesday, April 30th.
South Florida currently leads the field at +1 with a team total of 577. They are followed closely behind by Louisville (579, +2), St. John's (581, +3) and Notre Dame (584, +8) for the top four team spots. Connecticut (589, +13), DePaul (592, +16) and Georgetown (595, +19) round out the 5th through 7th place while Marquette and Cincinnati (597, +21) are tied for 8th place. Rutgers and Villanova are tied in 10th while Seton Hall is in 12th place (623, +47) to round out the team standings after day two.
Villanova senior Michael Kania (Haverford, Pa.) leads the `Cats in 21st place after posting a 72 on the afternoon (148) while graduate student Cory Siegfried (Villanova, Pa.) is tied for 29th after posting a 77. Derek Jones (Lower Burrell, Pa.), Steve Skurla (Wheaton, Ill.) and Ted Brennan (Newtown Square, Pa.) round out the Villanova finishers tied for 39th, 42nd and 51st places, respectively.
Cincinnati's David Tepe currently leads the field in sole possession of first place after carding a 69 on Monday and is minus six after two days of competiton. South Florida's Chase Koepka and St. John's Ryan Gay round out the top three individuals after day two.
Round three will commence Tuesday morning with the first grouping teeing off a 8 a.m. Results will be available on villanova.com as soon as they are made available.
