OKATIE, S.C. - Villanova lowered their team total by 14 strokes and moved up to 8th place after round two of the BIG EAST Championship, set at Callawassie Island in Okatie, S.C. The Wildcats tallied a team score of 314 for a two-day total of 642 (+66) after Monday's round and will look to improve in the team standings following the conclusion of the event on Tuesday afternoon.
St. John's continued their dominance and leads the team event with a total score of 585 (+9) while Marquette is just 10 strokes behind in second place. Seton Hall, Xavier, DePaul, Georgetown, Butler, Villanova and Creighton round out the team scoring following 36 holes of action.
Villanova's Lucas Trim continues to pace the Wildcats and is tied for 13th place after posting a second round total of 77 and stands at +8 for the event (75-77). Trim is nine strokes off the leader; St. John's Ryan McCormick is the only individual under par and sits at -2 for the tournament following rounds of 71-71 (142).
Robby Meador improved his individual standing by six spots and is tied for 25th place overall after carding a 76 for the afternoon and is at +13 (157). Luke Waggoner also improved on day two and moved up four slots to tie for 37th place (85-82-164; +20). Peter Mandich and Ted Brennan round out the Villanova scorers in 44th and 45th places, respectively, with two round totals of 169 and 173 (+25, +29).
Action at the BIG EAST Championship will conclude on Tuesday afternoon following 18 rounds of play.
